Capture all the memories at different photo ops as you travel through the spectacular scenery and encounter friendly characters that lead you to the Festival Plaza and Trick-or-Treat Trail.
Enjoy interactive kids activities at the Festival Plaza after you travel the Shutterbug Trail. Navigate the hay maze, rock the night away on stage, and more.
Meet super heroes, princesses, pirates, and more as kids 12 years and younger collect lots of goodies from trick-or-treat stations. This trail leads to the exit of Zoo Boo.
Frequently Asked Questions
Zoo Boo is a one-way trail through the Zoo, which is divided into three sections. The first section of the trail features photo opportunities with characters and decorated scenery. The second section of the trail is an interactive carnival at the Festival Plaza with kid-friendly activities and music. Visitors can enjoy the Festival Plaza area and activities in any order and at their own pace. When they are ready, they can rejoin the trail at the start of the trick-or-treat section, which leads through the rest of the Zoo to the exit.
Kids ages are encouraged to wear costumes but it is not a requirement. Since this event is geared toward families with young children, ages 14 and older may not wear masks that cover the face.

While you may spot a few night owls during Zoo Boo, most of our residents will be off-exhibit to catch some zzz's.
Parking is available in the Zoo's main parking lot on Masonic Drive. There is additional parking at the Youth Baseball Complex and down Babe Ruth Drive. Carpooling is encouraged.

Alexandria Zoo is looking for enthusiastic high school and college students interested in helping make Zoo Boo a spooktacular Halloween experience.
- Register online by Monday, October 16
- Read and sign the Volunteer Rules and Guidelines (and bring to the training session)
- Attend the mandatory training session on Tuesday, October 17
- Volunteer and have fun!
