The award winning children’s show, FLUMPA and Friends featuring a friendly tree frog and Wendy the singing scientist, will be with us for Zoo Day on Saturday, September 20! The musical science stage show includes sing-a-long songs, stories and plenty of audience participation.

Children will also have the opportunity to meet and greet Flumpa after one of his shows, so be sure to come to the Alexandria Zoo for Zoo Day! Games, prizes, face painting, food, and fun galore!

On Zoo Day, the Alexandria Zoo will also celebrate Black Bear Awareness. Get to know our black bears, Mike and Emily, and see them receive special treats during the day! Zookeepers and docents will be stationed at both bear exhibits, and representatives of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) and the Black Bear Conservation Committee (BBCC) will also be on hand. Hear presentations by the BBCC, view displays of biofacts, and kids can participate in a bear maze activity.

FREE movies, FREE food, and FREE fun!

Enjoy two free Halloween movies! The first one funny, the second one slightly scary! Reservations are required by October 20th by calling 318.441.6818.

There will also be a costume contest with prizes, and the judging will occur during intermission at 7:30 pm.

It’s fun for all ages at the biggest Halloween event in Cenla! New scenery, new photo opportunities, and more treats and souvenirs! Ages 12 and younger can enjoy trick-or-treating on the friendly Storybook Trail. There will be costume characters, music and dancing on at the main stage, and scenery that comes to life. Scary creatures of the night await only those who dare to walk the Scary Trail. Enjoy watching Zoo videos on the big screen while in line.
