CALL TO ARTISTS

Area artists and musicians are invited to participate in the tenth annual Wild Side of the Arts Festival sponsored by the Alexandria Zoo, City of Alexandria and Friends of the Alexandria Zoo (FOTAZ). The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The purpose of this multi-cultural event is to promote the Alexandria Zoo, local arts organizations, artists and musicians in Central Louisiana.

Exhibitors may display and sell their work near the Zoo Entrance under our Education Pavilion. This pavilion is located within 25 feet from a gate; therefore, loading and unloading will be very accessible. All artists may retain 100% of their sales.

We are in the process of registering artists and musicians for this event. Please help us by publishing the following information:

  • Registration forms must be returned by Friday, April 30, 2010. Artists must submit a $25 registration fee and sample of artwork. Student artists must submit $15 registration fee.
  • Sample of work should include photographs, slides, tapes, or videos. All work must be original creations (does not apply to the musicians or artists who have already participated in this event).
  • All work must be considered "fine art" such as painting, sculpture, multi-media, hand-made jewelry or pottery (a selection committee will make the final determination).
  • All artists must man their own space, be in charge of their own sales and/or have a designated person in charge of the space.
  • Artists are responsible for setting up their own display materials. Upon written request, the Zoo will provide 2 tables per artist.
  • All artists are responsible for requesting (in writing) electrical outlets, etc... necessary for displaying work.
  • Display areas must be set up by 9:30 a.m. and must not be dismantled until after 4:00 p.m.
  • Artists may retain 100% of their sales and will be responsible for collecting and reporting tax on sales.

If you need additional information, contact Katie Lewis at 441-6818. The registration form must be returned no later than Friday, April 30, 2010 to Alexandria Zoo, Wild Side of the Arts, 3016 Masonic Drive, Alexandria, LA 71301.
