Home School Classes

Classes for Homeschoolers at the Alexandria Zoo

DATE:
Classes are held monthly on the second Tuesday. If the Tuesday class is filled, there will be a class on Wednesday. The class on Tuesday must fill PRIOR to the class on Wednesday being opened.

TIME:
Each class meets from 9:30 am - Noon.

ADMISSION
Regular Zoo admission is charged. FOTAZ members may use FOTAZ cards, with a picture ID, for admission.* There is a one-time registration fee of $10.00 per child due at the first class attended. Please make checks payable to FOTAZ. The one-time fee will cover all seven classes for school year 2009-2010.

    PRE-REGISTRATION
    Pre-registration is required for each class and is now open for the September class. You may pre-register by phone, 441-6818, or email zoo.education@cityofalex.com (preferred method). Please provide student name, age, an adult name and contact number or email address. You must pre-register for each class each month.

    CLASSES
    Participants must be at least 5 years old. Parents are welcome at all classes and encouraged to attend. Younger siblings may attend with Mom/Dad. K - 2nd Grade will have a separate story/activity time as part of each class. Separate activities are also provided for 6th grade and up.

    Each class will include a classroom activity, zoo activity, light refreshments and an up-close animal visit.
