Summer Animal Births at the Alexandria Zoo
- May 11, 2009 - A yellow-backed duiker was born to "Chester" and "Greta."
- June 21, 2009 - The white-tailed deer, "Trooper" and "Trixie," welcomed a young buck named "Rudy."
- June 27, 2009 - "Norm" and "Chloe", the Zoo's anoa, welcomed baby "Scorch" during Alexandria Zoo's Zoo Day event.
- July 2, 2009 - Seven radjah shelducks hatched. These birds are native to Australia.
- July 10, 2009 - A Palawan peacock pheasant hatched.
- July 19, 2009 - Red river hogs, "Lobaye" and "Sokoto", welcomed three boys and a girl.
- July 24, 2009 - Baby "Sal," the African crested porcupine, was born.
- July 25, 2009 - A colobus monkey was born to "Cletus" and "Poppin."
- August 17, 2009 - A muntjac was born.
Throughout the summer several waterfowl hatched, including North American wood ducks, mandarin ducks, and a hooded merganser.
