Smile for the Niles!

African crocodile exhibit is now open

The new African crocodile exhibit houses two types of African crocodile, nile and slender-snout. This habitat features a large pond for the crocodiles to swim in and has two large glass viewing windows, allowing visitors to get nose to nose with these powerful reptiles.

Nile Crocodiles were once widely distributed over Africa south of the Sahara and on offshore islands. Their present range is smaller and they have become endangered because of habitat destruction and the value of their leather. Slender-snout crocodiles are found in open waterways, lakes, lagoons, and rivers of central western Africa.
